Rice Paper Weave represents Amy’s most current exploration to create art   works that address social and cultural concerns. Using more than 30 world languages, she weaves together words that represent an intertwining of world cultures and religions in a universal vision for a peaceful world. On the paper strips appear eight values vital in our human relationships: compassion, kindness, respect, understanding, patience, tolerance, gentleness and forgiveness.

“This work provides for me, a quiet, persistent, meditative process. I begin by cutting strips of rice paper and weaving them together, creating something of strength and resilience from fragile, humble and elemental materials of rice paper, ink, charcoal and pastel.”
